Years ago when a couple went out on a date
The girl got all dolled up; she was never late
They went to dances and balls, but
They never got drunk or went to bars

They stood outside and looked at the stars
They would stand around and talk,
Later they might decide to take a walk,
But they did no more than hold hands.

She was a good girl and he was a good man.
They talked of their family, and the things they did,
How they all got along together, and didn't fight.
Talked about when the days work was done,
The family sang a Jubilee, and said the Lord's Prayer.

That is what kept their family together
They all loved each other, mother, father,
sisters, and brothers, too.

Now some people hold a grudge and take revenge.
Oh, how I wish times would go back to
the olden days when families prayed together,
People were friendly, and couples got married,
Kept their vows and raised their children with love.

I think we would see all the difference in the world.
