"Charlie GoLucky"

Tuesday morning as I got up
I opened my window blinds
I wondered if I would see the sun
or frost on my tomato vines.

As I walked outside
I heard a young man say,
"Lady, do you know where
I could find a job out this way?
I am hungry, but I do not want anything free
My parents taught me to always earn my own money.
Dad said, 'Son, you can see how hard bee's
work to make their honey'."

The man traveled on down the street
He found a job working on cars, so now he can eat,
and buy himself some new shoes for his feet.

An older couple took the young man in.
He said, "This is the best place I've ever been."

The older couple said,
"He can be our grandson
He has been honest in everything he's done
We could not turn him out without a home
We would feel bad and that would be wrong.
We've been teaching him about living a Christian life.

We tell him not to take dope or carry a knife
We are happy the young man is here
We tell him to put his trust in our Lord
and always pray,
Because when you got this job
Something good came your way.

And we pray he will stay on the right track.
He is Charlie GoLucky."
